What is CMMI?
CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes, which will improve their performance. CMMI-based process improvement includes identifying your organization's process strengths and weaknesses and making process changes to turn weaknesses into strengths. CMMI applies to teams, work groups, projects, divisions, and entire organizations. Find out why CMMI has been adopted by so many organizations worldwide.
This three/two-day course introduces students to the CMMI model. It describes the models fundamental concepts, followed by discussions of the continuous model structure, the capability dimension, and generic practices of the model. The remainder of the course discussion is structured by the five categories of process areas (PAs), examining each PA and the specific goals and practices that apply to it.
This course is suitable for mainstream project staff and managements associates with Software Development, Maintenance or Management activity.
The course is based on the current version of the CMMI model, available in two representations that organizations can use to evaluate and improve their ability to develop and maintain systems. This course enables participants to make valid judgments regarding an organizations implementation of the process areas.
CMMI currently addresses three areas of interest:
1. Product and service development - CMMI for Development (CMMI-DEV),
The three-day course, "Introduction to CMMI", introduces participants to the fundamental concepts of the CMMI model. The course assists companies in integrating best practices from proven discipline-specific process improvement models, including systems engineering, software engineering, integrated product and process development and supplier sourcing.
The course is composed of lectures and class exercises with ample opportunity for participant questions and discussions. After attending the course, participants will be able to describe the components of CMMI, discuss the process areas in CMMI, and locate relevant information in the model.
The workshop will help the participants to:
The course comprises of 6 modules covering the below concepts and aspects of CMMI:
Module 1: CMMI Basics
Module 2: Maturity Level 2 Process Areas
Module 3: Maturity Level 3 Process Areas
Module 4: Maturity Level 4 Process Areas
Module 5: Maturity Level 5 Process Areas
Module 6: CMMI Appraisal Requirements and Method
This is a non certification program offered by Knowledgehut in sync with syllabus for CMMI. This course DOES NOT fill the SEI requirement to participate in a SCAMPI as a Team Member. Only the SEI CMMI Intro course taught by a Certified Instructor from a Partner organization would do that. It also DOES NOT meet the need as a pre-requisite for the other SEI courses. The workshop is meant for practitioners and the managers in your organization. It is specifically useful for organizations planning for CMMI-SE/SW/IPPD/SS Ver 1.3 staged representation appraisal or transition from current CMM SW V1.2 Maturity level to CMMI-SE/SW/IPPD/SS Ver 1.3 appraisal. Individuals coordinating process improvement in your Organization (SEPG(SM)) and those who wish to be part of Appraisal Team find it useful.
Who should attend?
This course is best suited for People or group from the below set of responsibilities within the organization or as an consultant:
This is an introductory course, and there are no prerequisites. Some knowledge of providing services, systems and / or software engineering quality management, and basic management principles is deemed helpful.
