In order to achieve IASSC Certified Black Belt™ (ICBB™) from the International Association for Six Sigma Certification, candidates must sit for the IASSC Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Exam and achieve a passing score.

The Exam

The IASSC Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt™ (ICBB™) Exam is a 4 hour 150 question, closed book, proctored exam. The Exam contains approximately 30 multiple-choice and true/false questions from each major section of the ILSSBOK for Black Belts.Certification fee is not included in the course fee. If, however, you are interested in giving the Certification Exam, please contact a KnowledgeHut representative to order a voucher for you at an additional cost.

In order to achieve the professional designation of IASSC Certified Black Belt (ICBB) from the International Association for Six Sigma Certification candidates must sit for the IASSC Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Exam. The Six Sigma Black Belt Exam is 4 hours long, and the 150 questions are in the multiple choice or true/false format.

Candidates must achieve a minimum score of 580 points out of a total potential of 750 points to pass the exam.

Lean Six Sigma certifications are offered by the IASSC in partnership with PEOPLECERT.

This is the first level of the Lean Six Sigma Certification scheme, and more advanced levels include the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, and the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification.

There are no prerequisites required to sit for the IASSC Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Exam.

IASSC provides a Reference Document in either paper or electronic form, subject to which form of exam one is taking. This document contains all formulas and tables one will need during the examination. Scratch paper is included in this document and must be discarded or returned to the Proctor before the candidate leaves the Testing Center. If taking a paper based exam one may bring an arithmetic-only calculator into the Testing Center.

The ILSSBOK is a document, developed by the industry and organized by IASSC, which defines the knowledge requirements of a Lean Six Sigma exam.

The ILSSBOK is continually updated to ensure that it maintains an accurate alignment with industry standards.

Results are sent within 2 business days upon receipt of the exam papers.

PDUs are credits awarded by the Project Management Institute . They recognize your dedication to implementing the Six Sigma processes and eliminating defects and improving overall process quality. PDUs are offered by the PMI®, and every PMI® certification, except the CAPM®, requires you to earn a specific number of PDUs per three-year certification cycle.

Six Sigma Black Certification is valid for only three years. To renew it, you need to take the Recertification Exam. The purpose of the exam is to evaluate the retained subject matter knowledge. It is a 2-hour long exam with 75 questions. To pass the exam, you need to have a minimum score point of 70%. The cost of the recertification fee is $235. 

There are no eligibility requirements to sit for the IASSC Lean Six Sigma Black Belt exam. If you want to achieve this certification, you will be required to sit for the exam that can be purchased through the Black Belt Exam Voucher of $395. You also need to get a minimum score of 70% to pass the exam to become a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certified professional.
