Understanding The Nuances Of Strategies As a Digital Marketer

Strategies are made to fulfill business goals or objectives. These can be seen as larger visions as they require deep thinking towards the target. In digital marketing, often business owners are found saying- “Our strategy is to use a social network.” Pragmatically, a social network is not a ‘strategy’ but a ‘method’ which is used as a day-to-day action and cannot be tied to a specific goal. Consider one example- if you have a restaurant and you want to boost its reservations by 75% during holidays and weekends, then a worthwhile strategy will be to engage more customers through the online reservations from your website. A perfect method will be to use Yelp and Google+ pages to increase reviews and drive traffic towards booking your restaurant website. While planning for digital marketing, make sure that the strategies are always tied to the goals. The idea behind the strategy is to go ahead from largely scaled plans to smaller ones. There are varieties of strategies available in digital marketing. As a digital marketer, you should be aware of differences among various strategies, which will help you to get more visitors reaching your website, stimulating the traffic towards the website. I have tried to outline some important techniques, as follows. Search Engine Strategies: This is the most important and less expensive strategy, to rank high on the main search engines for your preferred keywords, in natural searches.  Search engine posts the robot “spiders” to record the content of your web page. The context behind this is not to trick the search engines, but to leave them with plenty of clues over the web page content. This is called as Search Engine Optimization (SEO). SEO includes different approaches like- Writing a keyword-rich page title. Write a Description META Tag. Description should be about content of the web page using main keywords and phrases. It should be between <Head></Head> tag. Include your keywords in the headers (H1, H2, H3). Position your keywords in the first paragraph of your body text. Include descriptive keywords in the ALT Attribute (for alternate text for an image) of Image Tags. Use keywords in hyperlinks. Develop webpages focused on each of your target keywords. Promote your video, images, and audio content. Promote your local business on the internet. Linking Strategies:  Linking externally i.e. providing your site’s link on other sites, drives additional traffic. Google and other major search engines consider link popularity (of your website) as an important sign of relevance. More links visited will help you rank higher in the search engines. For identifying quantity and quality of incoming links, Google uses a measure called PageRank. Links from trusted, high visited sites will help your site rank higher than links from the low trafficked sites. Linking strategies includes- Submitting your site to key directories, as a link from a directory will help you get more traffic and ranking as well. Submitting your site to trade organization sites and to specialized directories, which are mainly focussing on particular industries like education, finance, etc. Writing articles for others to use in Websites and Newsletters. Social Media:  Our next strategy for promoting websites includes social media, in which people are interacting with each other and responding to posted blogs and commenting on it. It includes 4 types: Blogs Social networking sites Social bookmarking sites Forums Social media can help ranking your site by sending direct traffic, producing more links to your site and generating awareness. You can apply the following strategies for social media: Become a part of a social media community. Promote your site on online forums and discussion lists. Asking visitors to bookmark your site by providing various options.  Traditional Strategies:  A mixed media approach to marketing can be very effective if ‘old media’ strategies are not working. The mixed media strategies can include- Ensuring that all your business cards, stationery items and brochures contain your company’s URL, the only domain name that is recommended. Promoting the use of traditional media, by including URL in any display or making classified ads and spreading it in trade journals, newspapers, yellow papers, etc. From this, you can capture readers’ attention towards the ads and refer them to your company’s URL. Email Strategies: Email is an important path to get more people visiting your website. Just make sure not to send spam mails (unsolicited emails without permissions) as many countries have anti-spam laws. Installing a ‘Signature’ in your email program, which should be at the end of the message, limited to 6-8 lines, including Company name, address, phone number, URL, email id and one line on uniqueness about your company. You can publish an e-mail newsletter for your website’s promotion. If you want to get more subscribers to your email newsletter, you have to include subscription form on every page of your website and promote sign-ups also. Try to send exciting offers to your website visitors and to the customers who have given you an authorisation to contact them. You can include them in regular emailing if you have a regular newsletter. Paid Advertising Strategies:  The above discussed approaches require time and energy and if you want to grow your business more rapidly, you can pay to increase traffic to your website. Paid advertising can be done in 3 ways- Traditional CPM (Cost per thousand views) Pay per click (PPC) Pay per action (PPA) /Cost per action (CPA) You can do advertisements in the company’s email newsletter and can purchase PPC ads with Google AdWords, Yahoo, etc. This idea is vitally important as most internet businesses explore using Google AdWords to direct traffic to their websites. These are the effective ways for your website’s promotion. Though you need to spend more time in understanding and adapting these strategies, it will be beneficial for your company. With these strategies, you can jump-start your business in the market.

Top Opportunities, Challenges for Digital Marketing in 2021

Whatever business you’re into, there’s no denying that 2017 is already bringing in a slew of changes on all fronts when it comes to digital marketing. The trends that took off this year are already taking the world by the storm and it’s really no wonder – we live in a modern, interconnected world. Information is available to anyone, everywhere, at the tip of their fingertips. People want more knowledge and access than ever before, and who can blame them? We’re here to take a look at some of the top opportunities and challenges that any business will face in the area of digital marketing. Make sure that you adapt accordingly. Live streaming The social media give people opportunity to live stream their life events directly to their online friends. The world has become more open than before. Faster and more dynamic internet connections allow people everywhere to live stream or follow live streamers and feel involved in their lives and happenings. When it comes to digital marketing, this is a good way to promote yourself and present your products directly via the internet. People are more likely to trust you with their time and money if you present something live and answer any questions they might have. Before doing that, however, it’s good to consult experts and guides in order to prepare for such a live stream. While it can boost your business and skyrocket your product, it can also lead to your failure to the market if people are dissatisfied. Make sure that you use this new trend in a smart and professional way. Falling attention spans With all the information and possibility we have these days; our attention spans have fallen drastically and kept falling with each day. It’s a good idea to adapt your business strategy to accommodate this new trend. Make sure that you cut through the noise of a large amount of information and unnecessary publicity content that will divert your audience. Try to get straight to the point when promoting your content and product by using catch-phrases and relevant promotional materials. There’s nothing worse than having a great product but bad reputation for flooding your customers with unnecessary information. If they are interested, they will come to you. A good idea might be to cut through the content by using one of the services that will help you filter out the excess text and information. Focus on what’s important and you will surely attract the short attention span of current generations. Virtual and augmented reality There’s no denying that VR has become a new trend on the market. But how can we utilize this new piece of technology to reach our user base? Like with all new unfamiliar trends, it’s a good idea to consult an expert on the matter and think about how your product fits this new technology. One of the ideas might be creating VR promotional videos or AR animations that will allow your customers to experience your product in a risk-free environment. If done right, promotion using virtual reality can boost your business substantially because it’s new, intriguing and allows for very new and different ways of digital marketing. The VR headsets are still expensive but very much accessible and spreading with each day. While that is the case, AR is accessible to anyone with a smartphone, so it’s easy to reach a wide audience. The challenge here is to find a smart and creative way to use such a technology in order to promote you product. Don’t shy away from new trends and try to think of any ways that you can use VR to your advantage. Niche is popular It doesn’t take an expert to tell you that more and more niche groups and ways of thinking are becoming predominant. Whether it is subcultures or niche sports, all of these long neglected activities are becoming more and more popular. When it comes to digital marketing, it might be a good idea to target some of the niche cultures or trends by involving them in your marketing. There’s no better way to earn publicity and recognition than helping a certain group or trend become more visible. The public likes people who help others, and in today’s world, it’s become more relevant than ever before. Think about what niche activities or subcultures identify with your product the best and do some research. With any luck, you will have a breakthrough new marketing campaign that will put you on the radar of anyone who cares about social happenings. Partnerships have become more relevant in 2017 than ever before thanks to viral marketing and the way people spread the word around the internet. Content marketing While it’s true that we have more access to information than ever before, people are still skeptical when it comes to giving into new products or services. That is why content marketing is more relevant than ever before here in 2017. It’s not enough to tell people why your product is good by listing all the positives about it – they need to hear it from someone who isn’t you. You can create content marketing by giving out free samples or asking for volunteers to test your product in exchange for feedback. Content marketing is all about building trust among people. There’s no better way to market your business than by having positive feedback from people who actually got to use it. In conclusion When talking about digital marketing trends and what works today, it’s important to know that these trends are evolving and changing every day. What works now may not work tomorrow, and vice versa. Make sure that your business always stays ahead of the curve by following the development of trends and online media. Just like the world around you, your business will have to change and adapt to new demands that your consumers will require.
