PMI’s passing score for the PMP® exam for each aspirant is different. The exam score is determined based on the difficulty level of the set of PMP® exam questions you have answered. PMI uses a scientific approach to determine whether a PMP® candidate is eligible for the PMP® certification. The report card will show the Target level i.e. above Target, Target, Below Target and Needs Improvement.

When you apply for the certification, PMI grants you a 1-year period during which time you are eligible to appear for the exam 3 times. The first attempt at the PMP® exam costs $405 for PMI members and $555 for non-members.

If you fail at the first attempt, you can retake the PMP® exam again at a cost. It is $275 for the computer-based exam for PMI members and $375 for non-members. It is cheaper for the paper-based exam. It is $150 for a PMI member and $300 for a non-member.

If you fail the second attempt, you still need to pay to retake the PMP® exam.

If you fail to pass even after the third attempt, then you are required to wait for 1 full year from the date of your last test attempt before re-applying for the exam.

The PMI® UAE Khaleeji Chapter in Abu Dhabi Chapter organized an event called Project Manager: ‘Humble Disruptor or Arrogant Outcast?’  on 10th November 2019 at Park Rotana, Abu Dhabi. The event discussed the various kinds of Project Managers. The speaker, Dr Mazin Gadir, talked about the personality traits of different kinds of Project Managers which might affect a project's delivery. The session highlighted some of the crucial factors and project manager’s attributes that affect the team.

The session started with a welcome note delivered by the Abu Dhabi Branch Manager. Following this, a seminar was conducted by Dr Mazin Gadir, who is the Senior Consultant/Advisor at The Executive Office for Organizational Transformation, Dubai Health Authority with responsibility for health strategy development, implementation, execution, and transformation.Over 400 people attended the event. Before scheduling the exam, make sure you meet the minimum system requirements. For the online proctored exam, if you don’t have the right computer equipment, you might not get a refund.
You need to consider the following steps irrespective of your choice for scheduling your PMP® exam through Center-Based Test (CBT) or Online Proctored Test (OP):

  1. Visit the official site of PMI® at www.PMI.org.
  2. You will find ‘Review Application Status’ under the myPMI® section.
  3. Click on ‘Schedule Exam’.
  4. You will be redirected to your Pearson VUE account.
  5. Type the PMI® - Project Management Institute in the space given.

    Note: You need to select your testing program before scheduling, rescheduling or canceling an exam, or you could contact a customer service representative.

  6. Another option is to click on ‘A to Z list of all programs’ which will take you to a list of test sponsors.
  7. Click on ‘P’ to move to PMI® (Project Management Institute) as they are the test sponsor name for PMP®.
  8. Once you find and click on PMI® - Project Management Institute, you’ll land on a page where you need to log in using your unique PMI® eligibility ID.
  9. Then you’ll have to choose between the Center Based Test or Online Proctored Test option.

If you select CBT option:

Continue with the below-mentioned scheduling instructions to take up the PMP® Exam (CBT) in Abu Dhabi Test Center:

  1. Next, you will have to select the booking method option available to you. Select the ‘I will be scheduled for a future date at a test center’ option and click on Next.
  2. On the next page, you will be asked to review the View Testing Policies. Next, click on Schedule this exam.
  3. Next, you will have to select the test center, date and time for your PMP® certification exam. You just need to choose your exam center in Abu Dhabi and then choose a suitable date and time.
  4. After selecting, review the appointment and click on Proceed to Checkout.
  5. Follow the steps and click on Submit Order. This will confirm your appointment
  6. You will receive a confirmation mail from Pearson VUE.

If you select Online Proctored Test:

You need to consider the following steps if you choose to take up the PMP® exam in Abu Dhabi Test Center through Online Proctored Test:

  1. Agree to the online proctoring policies after reading it and click ‘Next’.
  2. The next page comprises of the exam and language aid you have selected. You need to click on ‘View Testing Policies’ and then click on ‘Schedule This Exam’.
  3. In the next step, you need to choose the date and time you wish to take your exam on. However, you do not have to select a location. You can schedule your PMP® exam at any time of the day between Tuesday to Saturday. First, select a date you would like to take your exam on and then the time.
  4. Once you make the selection, you need to review your appointment details and then click on ‘Proceed to Checkout’.
  5. Complete the checkout by following the next steps and then click on ‘Submit Order’.
  6. You will receive a confirmation email from Pearson VUE once your appointment is confirmed.

If you cancel your exam within 30 days of your scheduled appointment, a fee of $70 will be charged. If you fail to cancel your appointment before 48 hours of the exam, you will have to forfeit the entire exam fee.

The Project Management Institute (PMI)® has not yet come up with any updates on Paper-based Testing (PBT). However, it will work with Pearson VUE on the transition of candidates who are scheduled for PBT exam to Pearson VUE test center location on or after 1st July 2019.

Follow the given steps to schedule your PMP® exam with Pearson VUE through telephone:

  • Step 1: The representative at the Pearson VUE’s Contact Center will ask you about your Testing program, which is PMI® or the Project Management Institute. 
  • Step 2: Next, you will have to tell the name of the examination and your PMI® ID. 
  • Step 3: Last but not least, your name, address, email address, and phone number will be verified.

To schedule the Test Accommodations, you must have been granted the facility. Here is what you need to do to schedule the PMP® Exam with Test Accommodations with Pearson VUE:

  • Contact the Pearson VUE Contact Center.
  • Provide the details including the Testing program, name of the examination and your PMI® ID.
  • Next, you will have to verify your name, email address, phone number, and address.

Once you have submitted the PMP® certification fee or completed the PMP® application audit, you will receive a confirmation email that will also give you the PMI® eligibility ID which will be required to schedule the PMP® exam at the Pearson VUE website. It is also available in the myPMI® section of the PMI® website.

  • Visit www.PMI.org and under the Review Application status section, click on Reschedule Exam or Cancel Exam.
  • As you are directed to your Pearson VUE account, under the Upcoming Appointment section, click on the exam that you want to reschedule or cancel.
  • When you review the exam’s current appointment details, you will get an option to reschedule or cancel your exam. 

Note - Remember that if you cancel within 48 hours of your exam, you will have to forfeit the entire exam fee.

If you want to take the Online Proctor exam, you need to make sure that you understand the system, environment, technical and testing protocol requirements. You must do this before scheduling an appointment. Just follow these steps:

    • Take the computer in the location you will be taking the exam from and download and run them in the system.
    • Make sure that you have a microphone, working internet connection, and a webcam.
