This course has been designed to provide intense preparation for the CCBA® certification exam. The focus is on understanding the A guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK®) v3.0, acquiring fluency in the terminology of the BABOK®, and identifying the tools and techniques that are a part of a Business Analyst’s toolkit. The course entails an interactive question and answer review with a IIBA® certified instructor, discussions based on the BABOK® version 3.0 and practice tests to improve the learning process and help you gain the Certification of Competency in Business Analysis™ (CCBA®).

In order to appear for the CCBA® exam, participants must have:

  • Minimum 3750 (2 to 3 years) hours of business analysis work experience aligned with the BABOK®Guide in the last seven years, including:
    • Minimum 900 hours in two of the six knowledge areas or 500 hours in four of the six knowledge areas
  • Minimum 21 hours of Professional Development in the past four years
  • Minimum high school education or equivalent
  • Two references from a career manager, client or Certified Business Analysis Professional™ (CBAP®) recipient
  • Signed Code of Conduct

On meeting the eligibility requirements, participants can appear for the exam after submitting the application. Participants may use the designation of “Certification of Competency in Business Analysis™ (CCBA®)” on successfully clearing the exam.

The Exam

The CCBA® exam is of three hours duration and comprised of 130 questions. All the questions are multiple choice and scenario based. For more information visit

Want to be Business Analysis certified but don't have the experience to become a CBAP®? Have you thought about the CCBA®? This is a great way to show your competency while you gain experience. If a CBAP® certification is your eventual goal, you can use your CCBA® certification as a stepping-stone to move farther in your career. The CCBA® is a stringent credential that is a reflection of your ability to bring about positive business outcomes by applying business analysis skills and techniques. Apart from helping you achieve organizational goals, this credential will also make you stand out among your peers and management indicating your passion for business analysis self-improvement and continuous learning.

This is a 3 hour, 130 question exam.

You may take the exam up to 3 times within the 1 year application expiry period. There is no wait time between exam sittings. If you take the exam all 3 times and do not pass, you must wait until after your application expiry date before you can reapply.

All candidates who wish to take IIBA certifications must sign a mandatory Code of Conduct prior to applying in order to be able to proceed with your application.

You will get 21 PD hours, 21 CDU credits and 24 PDU credits on completion of the course.

21 PD hours will be claimed by participants who wish to write the CBAP or CCBA Certification exam, as this is mandated by IIBA as a pre-requisite to sit the exam.

21 CDUs will be claimed by participants who are already certified by IIBA (either CBAP or CCBA) and need to accumulate 60 CDUs every 3 years to renew their certification.

24 PDUs will be claimed by participants who are already certified by PMI (with credentials like PMP, PMI-ACP, and so on) and need to accumulate 30/60 PDUs every 3 years to renew their certification.

Yes, you have to pay a separate certification fee.

If you satisfy all the eligibility requirements and have gained the 21 PDs by attending KnowledgeHut’s workshop then you must: Submit application for CCBA® exam. Application fee is $125, which is non-refundable. Applications are then screened by IIBA® to check if all the requirements are fulfilled. If your application is accepted, register for CCBA® exam with the official testing agency. Exam fee is $325 for IIBA members and $450 for non-members. Take the exam as per your schedule. On successfully clearing the exam, you will be granted the Certification and may use the designation of “Certification of Competency in Business Analysis™” (CCBA®).

Exam re-take fee for CCBA® is $250 USD for IIBA members and $375 USD for non-members.

The re-certification fee is $85USD for IIBA members and $120 USD for non-members.

Any registration cancelled within 48 hours of the initial registration will be refunded in FULL (please note that all cancellations will incur a 5% deduction in the refunded amount due to transactional costs applicable while refunding).
