You need to make sure to meet the system requirements before scheduling the exam. You may not be able to avail a refund if you don’t have the right computer specification for the online proctored exam. You can schedule your exam by following the steps mentioned below:

  1. Visit On the homepage, you will find a “Review Application Status” in the “myPMI” drop-down menu. Then, select “Schedule Exam” option
  2. The next page will be that of your Pearson VUE account. There, you will find a list of “Preapproved Exams”.
  3. The Pearson VUE page comprises of a space to enter the name of your testing program. You need to type PMI® - Project Management Institute in it.Note: You need to select your testing program before scheduling, rescheduling or cancelling an exam, or you could contact a customer service representative.

  4. Or else, you can click on ‘A to Z list of all programs’ which will take you to a list of test sponsors.
  5. The test sponsor name for PMP® is PMI® (Project Management Institute) which you will be able to find once you click on ‘P’.
  6. Once you find and click on PMI® - Project Management Institute, you’ll land on a page where you need to log in using your unique PMI® eligibility ID.

You can cancel your exam appointment within 30 days of the exam. You will have to pay $70 to do that. Appointments can be cancelled only before 48 hours of the scheduled exam, otherwise the total examination fee has to be forfeited.

There is no update available on the Paper-based Testing (PBT) of the Project Management Institute (PMI)®. Candidates who have their PBT exam scheduled on or after 1st July 2019 will have their appointment moved to Pearson VUE.

You need to be granted first for scheduling Test Accommodations. To schedule PMP® examination with Pearson VUE with Test Accommodations, follow the steps given below

The program on “Agile: From basic project management to the LEAN enablers” was conducted in May 2018 at Sunny Global Centre, New York. 

The focus of the session which was attended by most Project Managers who are part of the PMI New York Chapter was on Agile and LEAN enablers which are the latest process improvement methodologies in the industry today. Some takeaways from the session include:

  • Professionals got a thorough understanding of the paradigm shift from the traditional methods and tools to the coming of age Agile and Lean techniques.
  • A demo of Project Team Builder was done during this session. The PTB is selected as the PMI Product of the Year. So it was a great learning experience understanding the implementation and benefits of this tool.
  • Professionals who are new to Agile and LEAN methodologies got a deep insight into LEAN and Agile project implementations.
  • Apart from the PDUs earned the professionals also got an opportunity to interact with the veterans of the field and grow their professional network as well.

PMP® Exam & PMP® Renewal

The PMP® certification comes with a validity of 3 years. But it can be renewed after that by fulfilling the Continue Certification Requirements (CCR) that is by earning PDUs.

You need to earn a minimum of 60 PDUs as part of CCR and to be eligible for the PMP® renewal. You can get these PDUs by actively participating in seminars and sessions conducted by the PMI New York Chapter.

You need to follow the below steps in order to renew your PMP® certification through the CCR Process:

Step 1

Earn a PMI certificationThe CCR cycle starts from the day you get your PMP® certificate and goes up to the day it expires, i.e. after 3 years.

Step 2

Participate in professional development activitiesYou need to earn PDUs by participating in seminar, sessions and events organized by the PMI New York Chapter

Step 3

Record and report PDUsAll the PDU claims need to be submitted for approval through the CCR system.

Step 4

Fulfill CCR requirements
You need to earn a minimum of 60 PDUs to meet the CCR requirement for the renewal of your PMP® Certification.

Step 5

Complete CCR application and pay renewal fee

Once your CCR application is approved, you will receive an email on your registered email id for making the renewal payment.

You can earn PDUs by active participation in the activities organised by the New York Chapter on PMI. Most of these sessions would be related to:

  • Education and New Learning
  • Sharing your knowledge and experience with others

There are different PDUs that you can earn for different activities, but in the area of education, you can earn a minimum of 35 PDUs per participation.

PDU is a Professional Development Unit which can be earned by spending 1 hour in any activity that adds to your professional development. In the educational area there are mainly 5 activities for which can earn your PDU:

  • Professional Training and sessions
  • Digital media and online courses
  • Attending and Organizing meetings
  • Reading and self-learning
  • Informal Learning through any other means

As per PMI, there are three main skills needed for any Project Management professional - technical domain knowledge, leadership and business intelligence. The PMI Talent TriangleTM is an amalgamation of these three:Technical Project Management: which means the knowledge and expertise in the domain and the technology of the project.Leadership: In order to lead a team the Manager must have good leadership skills and have knowledge which will help in improving the project and steering it in the right direction.Strategic and Business Management: Understanding the strategies and methodologies which are needed for successful and smooth project implementation and delivery.
