An AWS Certified Solutions Architect is a professional who has learned how to design a solution that can be implemented in an AWS infrastructure.

Firstly, it is recommended to attain the AWS Cloud Practitioner Certificate as a foundational step, but not recommended. Once you have at least 1 year of hands-on experience with AWS technology, you can appear for the AWS Solutions Architect – Associate certification exam. Once you clear this exam and possess an experience of 2 years as a Solutions Architect in the cloud domain, you are eligible to apply for AWS Solutions Architect – Professional certificate.

While AWS does not require you to take up any training prior to attempting the exam. It is advisable to prepare for the exam by ensuring your knowledge of the fundamental concepts.

To clear the AWS Certified Solutions Architect exam, you will need to answer at least 36 of the 50 questions correctly. You need to score 720 out of a maximum of 1000 to clear the exam.

The exam has 50 questions. You need to answer at least 36 answers correctly to clear the exam. 

After the retirement of SAA-C02 exam, the latest version of the exam is SAA-C03. 

Yes, the SAA-C02 certificate is valid for 3 years, after which you can appear for the SAA-C03 certification exam. 

While the difficulty level of SAA-C03 is very similar, there are 30 new services and many feature updates made to the exam, which can be referred to in the exam guide. Apart from that, AWS introduced hands on questions where you must use the AWS Management Console to complete a series of tasks. Despite these changes, it is still a multiple choice and multiple response style exam.
