The objectives of controlling a stage process in PRINCE2 are-

To ensure that due attention is paid on the delivery of the product.
To keep risks and issues under control.
To keep the business case under constant review.
To deliver the products for the stage to the agreed quality within agreed cost and time and achieve the defined benefits.
And to deliver within the laid down tolerances.
