There are many accreditation bodies that provide six sigma certifications. For this course the certification is provided by IASSC and PeopleCert. IASSC stands for The International Association for Six Sigma Certification, a body committed to growing and enhancing the Lean Six Sigma profession. PeopleCert handles the exams which is to be cleared for you to get certified.

The only requirement for getting the Six Sigma Black Belt certification is that you will need to clear the Six Sigma Black Belt certification exam by scoring at least 70%. It is a four-hour closed book proctored exam that contains 150 questions.

Yes, while Six Sigma Black Belt certificates have a lifetime validity, the status changes from “current” to “elapsed” every three years. To bring it back to “current” you will need to take a recertification exam. This is a two-hour long closed book exam with 75 questions. You will need to answer at least 70% of the questions correctly to clear the exam. There is a recertification fee of $235.

There is no upper limit on the number of retakes you can take. You will have to purchase an exam voucher every time you attempt it and beyond the second attempt you can only take the exam once in three months.
