The eligibility criteria for PSPO™ certification suggests that basic knowledge of Scrum in a real-world context is helpful, though not mandatory. The one-day Agile and Scrum foundation training serves as a good primer. It is specifically for those, who are interested in handling the business side of a product in Scrum organizations.
However, attending a training workshop is not a mandatory requirement to become PSPO™ certified. You can self-study and attempt the assessment to gain the PSPO™ certification.
