By Michael Bright
Oct 20, 2022 11:00 (EDT)

Overview

Kubernetes is API-centric, meaning that all internal or external requests pass through the same Kubernetes API, even between platform components. This series of webinars will look at the request handling by the Kubernetes API server, implemented in 3-stages — Authentication, Authorization, and Admission Control.

In Part 1 of the webinar series—ace Technical Trainer and Consultant – Michael Bright — will take you through an overview of the API structure and resources, API exchanges between Kubernetes components, API request formats, and the authentication stage, which can use built-in methods such as the use of X.509 certificates, tokens, or webhooks to external systems.  He will also demonstrate the creation of an API "user" along with other authentication methods.

Key Takeaways:

  • What constitutes an API?
  • Communication of Kubernetes components
  • How API requests are authenticated
  • Different Authentication methods
