Large-Scale Scrum (LeSS) is a framework designed to decrease organizational complexity while scaling agile development methods across multiple teams. LeSS works with the principles, elements and purpose of Scrum and provides a framework to apply them on a larger scale. Structural rules and guidelines are laid out to create ‘more with LeSS’, solving problems and challenges using simple solutions.
Certified LeSS Basics course is a basic introductory course that gives an overview of the LeSS framework and its foundational concepts and principles. You will get to understand the applications and their impact, and can decide whether LeSS is the best fit for your organizational needs. The training is led by a certified LeSS practitioner who has significant experience in the field. On successful completion of the course, you will receive a course participation certificate.
What you will learn
After the class, we expect that you will have skills to:
- Analyze the state of your current organization and evaluate the applicability of LeSS
- Understand the impacts of LeSS adoption
- Learn how LeSS builds on top of modern management thinking
- Realise that there is no blame. People’s behavior is determined by the system they are in.
- Understand yourself and what is preventing you from influencing your organization
- Understand others and/or your interactions with them
- Gain interest in learning more about topics discussed in the class
- Get new ideas about your future
A year (or more) after this course is over, we want and hope that you will still be able to:
- Articulate why LeSS
- Explain how LeSS is a Scrum-based approach on scaling
- Summarize what impact this has on the organizational design (structures, policies, etc.)
- Explain the dynamics of component teams vs. feature teams
- Explain all LeSS roles and their purposes
- Explain why there is one and only real PO and not so-called team POs
- Explain the LeSS Complete diagram, organizing LeSS information in terms of the principles, rules, guides, and experiments
- Explain how LeSS scales over ~8 teams
- Know the existence of and location of major learning resources at less.works
You will also get:
- 1 day training (8 hours) led by a certified LeSS practitioner

This course is a conceptual introduction to LeSS, and covers an overview, the purpose behind LeSS and how to apply it in a working environment.
The target audience includes developers, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Agile Coaches and managers in product development groups who are interested in expanding their knowledge on various agile scaling approaches.
No, there is no online/virtual course. LeSS courses require in-depth knowledge of Scrum, which you get from our certified experts who lead the workshop.
If learners are not Professional Scrum Masters /Certified Scrum Masters then they have to undergo 2 days Scrum Master training either PSM or CSM before attending Certified LeSS Basics training.
On successful completion of the course you will receive a course completion certificate issued by KnowledgeHut.
