The handbook provides information on all testing modalities, policies and procedures for obtaining and maintaining the PMP certification. You will find tips and important information on the certification process including the Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program. You will also get additional information through the course of the Project Management Professional training.

The PMBOK Guide refers to PMI's Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, PMI’s flagship publication which is a fundamental resource for effective management in any industry.

The book includes The Standard for Project Management. The standard is the foundation upon which the vast body of knowledge builds, and the guide serves to capture and summarize that knowledge.

The latest version is the Seventh Edition, published in July 2021.

The PMBOK Guide is a great resource and an extremely useful one to master their skills.

Please note that the PMBOK Guide, 7th Edition does not impact the PMP Exam Prep Training Material, which has been developed to align to the PMP Exam Content Outline. It is important to note that the current PMP exam is based on the Exam Content Outline, dated January 2021, and not on the PMBOK Guide. The Exam Content Outline summarizes the research conducted to create the PMP exam and includes the most critical tasks required for project managers to master in their role.

No, you cannot take the PMP exam without undertaking 35 hours of PMP classes, either as a self-paced e-learning or live instructor-led training from an Authorized Training Partner (ATP) of PMI, like KnowledgeHut.

The only exception to this rule is if you are a CAPM certified professional. In this case you can self-study and take the examination directly from PMI without attending a PMP certification training course. However, this may prove to be very challenging. Professional Development Units (PDUs)

PDUs are Professional Development Units issued by the Project Management Institute. They can be earned by completing educational training or learning opportunities, which serve to validate your participation and continued proficiency in its principles and practices.

PDUs are the measuring unit used to quantify your professional development as part of the PMI’s Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program. 1 PDU = 1 hour of learning/activity.

PDUs recognize your dedication to your career through the award of credits for every educational effort you make throughout your career. PDUs are offered by the PMI, and every PMI certification, except the CAPM, requires you to earn a specific number of PDUs per three-year certification cycle.

You will be eligible for 35 PDUs on course completion that can be used for recertification from PMI Inc.

You can earn PDUs by attending training programs offered by PMI Authorized Training Partners or by organizations or universities. Whenever you attend a PMI congress, webinar, conference or any other event or indulge in self-directed learning, you can earn PDUs.

As soon as you get a PMI certification, you can begin earning and recording PDUs. Any activities you conducted prior to achieving your certification will not count toward your new certification's PDU requirements.

Yes, you can transfer PDUs to your next certification cycle if you have earned PDUs above the required total of 60 for PMP, in the last year of your 3-year certification cycle. The PDUs you earned in the first two years cannot be utilized in a future cycle. Further details can be found in the PMP Handbook

No, you do not need to submit any supporting documentation to report new PDUs. However, it is advised that you retain a folder of all PDU-related documentation handy for at least 18 months after your Continual Certification Requirement (CCR) cycle to ensure that it is easily available should you be audited at random.

You can find out more about PDUs in PMI’s FAQs

PMP Audit

The submission of a PMP exam application indicates your agreement to comply with PMI’s terms of the audit process. All applications are subject to an audit, although only a percentage of applications are selected for audit.

KnowledgeHut is right by your side throughout your certification process. Right from your enrollment for the PMP training program, you will receive comprehensive assistance for PMI registration and membership and review and submission of your PMP exam application.

Should your application get selected for the audit process, you will have 90 days to gather and submit all certificates and documentation to substantiate your project management professional experience and your project management professional preparation course online or offline education certification; proper verification for the project experience listed in the application must be provided. A KnowledgeHut expert will guide you through every step to ensure application and exam success. Good platform to begin PMP journey. The trainer is knowledgeable. However, we need to study alot more on our own in order to pass. So the training is mainly a foundation.

Neethy Joseph Supervising Associate
The class was condensed and made really easy to follow. Sunil as a trainer was great and gave very relatable experiences. Our KnowledgeHut chatbot assistance was also very helpful. I have given 4 stars instead of 5 (which is what I would have liked to give) because when I had a concern about logging into a class, our KnowledgeHut coordinator did not reply to any of my emails. In the end, somehow I restarted and refreshed and the PRISM website got fixed and I was able to join the class.
