PMI’s passing score for the PMP® exam for each aspirant is different. The exam score is determined based on the difficulty level of the set of PMP® exam questions you have answered. PMI uses a scientific approach to determine whether a PMP® candidate is eligible for the PMP® certification. The report card will show the Target level i.e. above Target, Target, Below Target and Needs Improvement.

When you apply for the certification, PMI grants you a 1-year period during which time you are eligible to appear for the exam 3 times. The first attempt at the PMP® exam costs $405 for PMI members and $555 for non-members.

If you fail at the first attempt, you can retake the PMP® exam again at a cost. It is $275 for the computer-based exam for PMI members and $375 for non-members. It is cheaper for the paper-based exam. It is $150 for a PMI member and $300 for a non-member.

If you fail the second attempt, you still need to pay to retake the PMP® exam.

If you fail to pass even after the third attempt, then you are required to wait for 1 full year from the date of your last test attempt before re-applying for the exam.

These are the mandatory steps that you need to follow irrespective of your preference for scheduling your PMP® exam within Center-Based Test (CBT) or Online Proctored Test (OP):

  1. Log in to the official site of PMI® -
  2. Go to ‘Review Application Status’ and click on ‘Schedule Exam’.
  3. You will be redirected to your Pearson VUE account.
  4. Type the PMI® - Project Management Institute in the blank space provided in the page.

  5. Or else, you can click on ‘A to Z list of all programs’ which will take you to a list of test sponsors.
  6. PMI® (Project Management Institute) is the test sponsor name for PMP®. You’ll be able to find once you click on ‘P’.
  7. After you find it, click on PMI® - Project Management Institute, you’ll land on a page where you need to log in using your unique PMI® eligibility ID.
  8. In the next step, you’ll have to choose between the Center Based Test or Online Proctored Test option.

If you select CBT option:

Proceed with the below-mentioned scheduling instructions to take up the PMP® Exam (CBT) in Perth Test Center:

  1. In the next step, you will have to pick the booking method option. Select the ‘I will be scheduled for a future date at a test center’ option and click on Next.
  2. After clicking on Next, you will be asked to review the View Testing Policies. After this, click on Schedule this exam.

If you choose to take up the PMP® exam in Perth Test Center through Online Proctored Test,
You need to consider the following steps -

  1. Agree to the online proctoring policies after reading it and click ‘Next’.
  2. The next page comprises of the exam and language aid you have selected. You need to click on ‘View Testing Policies’ and then click on ‘Schedule This Exam’.
  3. In the next step, you need to choose the date and time you wish to take your exam on. However, you do not have to select a location. You can schedule your PMP® exam at any time of the day between Tuesday to Saturday. First, select a date you would like to take your exam on and then the time.
  4. Once you make the selection, you need to review your appointment details and then click on ‘Proceed to Checkout’.
  5. Complete the checkout by following the next steps and then click on ‘Submit Order’.
  6. You will receive a confirmation email from Pearson VUE once your appointment is confirmed.

A fee of $70 will be charged if you cancel your exam within 30 days of your scheduled appointment. You have to cancel your appointment before 48 hours of the exam, otherwise, you will have to abandon the entire exam fee.

Although the Project Management Institute (PMI)® has not yet given any updates on Paper-based Testing (PBT), It will work with Pearson VUE on the change of candidates who are scheduled for PBT exam to Pearson VUE test center location on or after 1st July, 2019.

To schedule your PMP® exam with Pearson VUE through telephone, follow the given steps -

  • Step 1: The representative at the Pearson VUE’s Contact Center will ask you about your Testing program, which is PMI® or the Project Management Institute. 
  • Step 2: Next, you will have to tell the name of the examination and your PMI® ID. 
  • Step 3: In the End, your name, address, email address, and phone number will be verified.

In order to schedule the Test Accommodations, you must have been first verified. Following are the steps to schedule the PMP® Exam with Test Accommodations with Pearson VUE:

  • Contact the Pearson VUE Contact Center.
  • Give the details including the Testing program, name of the examination and your PMI® ID.
  • Following which you will have to verify your name, email address, phone number, and address.

You will receive an approval email after you have successfully settled the PMP® Certification fee or completed the PMP® application audit. The email includes the PMI® Eligibility ID.  You will need this for scheduling the PMP® exam session at the Pearson VUE website.Note- The PMI® Eligibility ID is also available on the myPMI® section of PMI® website.

  1. Visit and under the Review Application status section, click on Reschedule Exam or Cancel Exam.
  2. You will be directed to your Pearson VUE account, under the Upcoming Appointment section, click on the exam that you want to reschedule or cancel.
  3. When you review the exam’s current appointment details, you will get an option to reschedule or cancel your exam.Note: Note if you cancel within 48 hours of your exam, you will have to forfeit the entire exam fee.

    • Take the computer in the location you will be taking the exam from and download and run them in the system.
    • Make sure that you have a microphone, working internet connection, and a webcam.
