PMP Certification Training in Canada

PMP applications sometimes randomly get audited by the PMI. They do so to check your eligibility for the Project Management Professional Certification in Canada. If you get selected for an audit, you will have to give them your documents that would confirm that you meet the education and experience requirements.

You will have to include a copy of your degree and verification of your project management experience signed by your supervisor. You will also have to show proof that you have completed 35 hours of project management education or training. If you fail to provide sufficient audit documentation, your application will be rejected. So, be prepared to promptly submit your degree, manager-signed experience letter, and training certificates or transcripts if audited.

Unfortunately, if you fail to meet the audit requirements, you will not be able to take the PMP exam in Canada. Without proof of your experience or education during the eligibility audit, PMI won’t be able to complete the required verification process. The PMP exam will cover three main domains - People, Process, and Business Environment and consist of multiple choice questions, fill-in-the-blanks, and interactive scenarios. On finishing your PMP certification training in Canada, you can schedule an online exam. All you have to do is log in to your PMI account, click on ‘Review Application Status’, and click on the ‘Schedule Exam’ option.

You will be redirected to Pearson VUE, where you can choose a centre-based exam or an online exam. If you choose the former, you will have to pick a location, date, and time. But if you opt for the latter, you will only have to select the date and time. On checkout, you will have to pay an exam fee and then, you’ll receive an email confirming your examination.

Remember to only schedule your exam after completing the PMP certification course in Canada, as training for PMP is a mandatory requirement.

The exact score that you will need to have to pass the exam is not disclosed publicly by PMI. This score is fixed based on psychometric analysis by PMI's subject matter experts. What we do know for sure is that the 175 questions that you will appear for will be worth one point.

This exam will examine your proficiency across three domains. The People domain will have 42% weightage, while Process will have 50%, and Business Environment will have 8% of the total score weightage.

You don't have to worry even if you can’t get through the PMP exam on your first attempt because you have a couple more chances to clear it the next time. You will be eligible to retake the test two additional times within one year after your initial application was approved.

The process of getting certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) in Canada takes somewhere around 8 to 12 weeks. There are different ways to earn these units, including activities like learning, teaching, and volunteering. These come under the Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) Program.

The PMP certification renewal process requires candidates to acquire 60 PDUs every three years. As you earn a PDU, you have to enter it into the online CCR system. Once you have the required PDUs, you can pay the renewal fee and increase your certificate’s validity. The PMP renewal fee in Canada will vary and you’ll have to check it at the time of payment.
